Tilson Outdoors is led by father-and-son team Richard and Caleb Tilson—the third and fourth generation of a family deeply rooted in the Green Industry.
It all started with Bryson Tilson, Caleb’s great-grandfather, who was known for being able to “grow grass on a doorknob.” He managed the grounds at Mars Hill College (now University) and passed his passion down to his son, Leonard Tilson, who co-founded L.A. Reynolds Garden Center in Lewisville—a staple in the local landscaping scene for decades.
Richard Tilson grew up working in that business, helping out at L.A. Reynolds and learning the value of hard work and horticultural know-how firsthand. He later went on to launch Tri-County Landscaping, gaining over two decades of experience in construction-grade landscaping and hardscaping. Caleb joined him at a young age, earned a degree in entrepreneurship from UNC Greensboro, and together they launched Tilson Outdoors.
Today, they bring over 60 years of combined experience to every project, blending time-tested techniques with modern design to create outdoor spaces that are personal, purposeful, and built to last.
